This month’s bonus content is my keynote from the 2016 Gay Romance Northwest Meetup (name in process of being changed to something more inclusive). They asked me what my queer romance dream was. I couldn’t help but think about books – and other media – that have really had an impact on me. And that most of the people in that audience probably haven’t even heard of them. Whether in romance, erotica, or pornography: this is what I want to see in the next 5-10 years.
Earlier this month I got asked my advice on picking out a strap on harness that is good for trans women, and I realized that I couldn’t just point to my informational video on the topic since the site it was hosted on hasn’t been around for a while. Now seems like the perfect time to put it up here.
It’s odd seeing how much I’ve changed in the half decade since I made this film – My hair was so much shorter! And I would have really tried to make this differently if I were to do it again now. But in any case, I hope you enjoy it!
Many of you have heard that last month was the final year of the Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival, or MichFest. The festival was well known for it’s anti-trans discrimination and became a hotbed of anti-trans activist organizing. Most in the trans community are celebrating that this long standing discriminatory institution is coming to an end, however, at one time I had been hopefully optimistic that this could change, and I even attended the festival myself.
This video is a performance I gave at the traveling show, Bawdy Storytelling, when they made a stop in Seattle. The theme of the night was “Strange Bedfellows” and I shared my story of hooking up at MichFest.
